The
BrainScience on the Move project, funded by the Howard Hughes Medical
Institute, is a unique neuroscience program for Minnesota students and
teachers. The program, a collaboration of the University of Minnesota's
Department of Neuroscience and the Science Museum of Minnesota, is designed
to encourage and support fifth through eighth grade student learning
about their own brains and how they work.
Teachers enrolled in the project participate in BrainU, a two week-long
neuroscience institute at the University of Minnesota. During the following
year, participating teachers receive a school visit from Department
of Neuroscience and Science Museum staff, who present "Explain
Your Brain", an exciting school assembly program and investigative
small group sessions to their students. The BrainScience on the Move
program uses inquiry as a means to explore brain function and how the
brain works.
